A Love that Nurish and Nurtures

In the ancient Greek language there were three kinds of love: Eros, Philia and Agape.
Eros is the romantic and sexual love.
Philia is the friendly and affectionate love.
Agape is the spiritual and compassionate love.
This last one was translated as charity for some time.
Agape was also the name given to the meetings where the early Christians shared the teachings of Jesus in the middle of lunch or dinner or, in our contemporary language, a communion.
Considering this I think Agape is about the love that nurish and nurtures, a love kind of love expressed through spirituality and compassion.
You can love someone passionately to madness and that's fine.
You can love someone unselfishly and that's good.
You can love someone helping financially or in kind and that is admirable.
But to nourish someone with your actions, your words, your examples or just with your presence and with it she or he can become in a better person is to take the love to its highest level.
And that's the Christian love, the love that raise you, the love that nurish you and nurtures you.
In other words love at its best.

Un Amor que Nutre y Cría

En el lenguaje griego antiguo existen tres formas de amor: Eros, Philia y Agape.
Eros es el amor romántico y sexual; Philia es el amor amistoso y afectivo;
Agape es el amor espiritual y compasivo.
Este último durante algún tiempo fue traducido como Caridad.
Agape fue el nombre que se le dio las reuniones de los primeros cristianos donde compartían las enseñanzas de Jesús en medio de comida o banquete, una comunión.
Tomando en cuenta esto creo que Agape se refiere al amor que alimenta, que nutre, que se expresa a través de la compasión y la espiritualidad.
Puedes amar pasionalmente a alguien hasta la locura y eso está bien.
Puedes amar a alguien desinteresadamente y eso es bueno.
Puedes amar a alguien ayudando económicamente o en especie y eso es admirable.
Pero nutrir a alguien con tus acciones, tus palabras, tus ejemplo o sólo con tu presencia y con ello se convierta en una mejor persona es llevar el amor a su más alto nivel.
Y eso es el amor cristiano, el amor que te alienta y te enseña, el amor que te nutre y te cría.
En otras palabras, el amor en su máxima expresión.
